Our Mission
Yellowhammers are a competitive youth travel lacrosse team based out of Birmingham Alabama. Our community mission is to have the coaches, players, and families working towards the development of our players and the program. We strive to create an environment that fosters sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. Our goal is to provide our players with the skills and experience necessary to succeed both on and off the field. Join us on this journey and become a part of the Yellowhammers family!
Our Coaches
Hunter McGeeney
Head Coach
Head coach, Hunter McGeeney, comes from a very rich and storied lacrosse family. His father is in the lacrosse hall of fame, it’s safe to say lacrosse is in his blood. Hunter has amassed 15+ years of indoor and outdoor lacrosse experience in the US & Canada. In college he was a 4 year starter at Marymount University (96 GB, 83CT, 5 career points, Top 3 defenseman in CAC for caused turnovers) and was also Captain his Senior year. Hunter has been coaching lacrosse since his college days. He coached club lacrosse for 3D Denver & Hammers Lacrosse (VA). Hunter is currently the Defensive coordinator for Spain Park's Varsity Lacrosse program and is very excited about the opportunity to build the 2032 Yellowhammer program from the ground up.
Coach Gabe Czeschin
Assistant Coach
Gabe Czeschin has played lacrosse for 10 years at the youth, high school, and collegiate level. Gabe was a 2 year varsity LSM/defenseman starter at Vestavia Hills School. He played in 29 games with 52 GBs, 22 CT, and 2 career points including a goal in the 2022 State Championship game. Gabe was recognized as Alabama First-Team All-State defender in 2022. He was named to the Alabama All-Star team in 2021 and 2022. Gabe played for Birmingham Lacrosse United (BLU) and Steel City Stars during the summers throughout high school. Gabe committed to Montevallo University in 2023 earning both an athletic and academic scholarships. Gabe started coaching for the Yellowhammer program in the summer of 2023.
Coach Steven Collins
Assistant Coach
Steven Collins is a former defensemen at the University of Montevallo. During his career he was able to win 2 Conference Championships and All-Conference accolades(93 GB, 49 CT, 10 career points). Transitioning from player to coach, Steven has started guiding players to excellence through his tenure with Birmingham Lacrosse United(BLU) and now as the Head Coach of Vestavia's 14U team. With a passion for nurturing young talent, Steven is eager to kick off his journey with the 2032 Yellowhammer program.
